Identity & access Management Action Group for Education & Research (IMAGER)
For researchers to be confident collaborating over the internet, they must be confident that their information is secure. Accessing information securely and verifying a person's identity presents a number of challenges. MoRST established the Identity & access Management Action Group for Education & Research (IMAGER) to work collaboratively with representatives in the research and education sectors to tackle some of these challenges. Why is IMAGER important for research?
Verifying identity over the web is becoming more and more important as more researchers use online tools and technologies to communicate, exchange ideas, analyse data and access research infrastructure. IMAGER's role is to complement and support the work of:
What does IMAGER do?
- Review international 'best practice' policy for identity and access management initiatives and assist with policy development in New Zealand.
- Give researchers a forum to approach for identity and access management policy advice.
- Provide a connection between stakeholders to inform our eResearch policy development process.
