Bioissues Fora
Bioissues Fora bring the science and policy communities together to debate the implications of new technological developments.
They are designed to increase awareness among government departments and agencies of emerging research in various fields of biological and other sciences. We tend to choose areas where the applications of the science have policy implications across a range of agencies. These implications could relate to the need for new or different regulation or coordination of policy advice from a range of departments. They also expose researchers to how policy agencies think about science issues
For each Forum a leading researcher is invited to provide an overview of the science in a particular area and describe its current or potential applications. The audience is then invited to discuss potential policy issues associated with the area.
The Fora are also to:
- Help equip government departments and agencies with the technical knowledge and contacts necessary for addressing science-related issues
- Provide an opportunity for initiating discussion of policy issues associated with new areas of research
If you work for a Central Government Department or Agency and are interested in attending future Bioissues Fora contact Robert Hickson. The Fora are not open to the general public.
