MoRST wishes to remain informed about Māori research activity. These two reports were commissioned in 2003 to assist the Ministry in its understanding of Māori research.
An Overview of Māori Research - a report by Kōwhai Consulting Ltd.
This first report was prepared by Kōwhai Consulting Ltd and considers Māori research activities (particularly within Māori communities) that are not supported currently through Vote RS&T. The purpose of the report is to learn about a range of research experiences and aspirations in less formal settings.

A second report was prepared internally and is entitled "A Snapshot of Vote Research, Science and Technology Investment in ‘Māori Research’ in the period July 2002 to June 2003". The purpose of this report is to summarise how Māori research is currently supported in the Vote – both in terms of the funding instruments that are available and the rationale behind investment decisions.
